What is Reiki and how can it help me? 

Reiki is a healing practice that balances and strengthens the body's energy, and activates it's natural healing processes. Benefits include:

• Supporting the quality of life for patients with cancer who are moving towards the end of their life

What to expect:​

• The treatment is given on a treatment couch/bed or in a chair depending on your level of comfort and mobility.

• You will be fully clothed. A blanket is provided for warmth and comfort.

• You can also let me know if you are happy with hands-on or hands-off treatment.

• Reiki can be different for everyone - you might experience feelings of deep relaxation, seeing colours, sensations of gently flowing energy ... or depending on your energy levels, you might not feel anything immediately, but might experience improvements in wellbeing after the session.

The science behind Reiki 

Life Energy is a bit like wifi ... we can't see it, but we know it's there.

​

On a molecular level, everything, including all living things, are made up of energy.  In Reiki, we call this Life Energy or Universal Energy (there are many more names for this throughout the world).  Scientists are now able to measure the energy flowing from Reiki practitioner's hands and the improved energy levels of the client. Therapeutic Touch therapy (a similar practice to Reiki) is now offered to NHS patients.

This article in Herald Open Access explains: Reiki Healers and their patients were measured with very sensitive equipment before and after treatment. The measurements showed that energy is indeed transferred from the hand healers to the patients, but surprisingly after hand healing not only the energy of the patients will be better balanced and higher, but also the energy of the healers will be higher and better balanced.
